▶ CHARACTER INFO.
CHARACTER NAME: Lacus Clyne
CHARACTER AGE: 20
CANON: Gundam Seed
CANON POINT: post-Freedom
CRAU INFO: N/A

SUITABILITY: At a glance, Lacus seems like a poor fit for LILITH. She is the pinkest of pink princesses, enamored with cute things and flowers and song. But first impressions are deceptive sometimes. When needed be, Lacus can step up to horrible situations and will do so – again and again. Under the facade of the sweet young woman, there’s a pragmatic commander.

The first time Lacus stood up for what she felt was right was when she stole a classified super weapon from her country, then became a rebellion guerilla radio speaker, and ultimately commanded a spaceship in the concluding battle of a large scale war. She was 16 years old at the time. Since then she has taken up the mantle of battleship commander again at 19, putting down a second war, and then become the leader of an international armed peace organization (think something alike to NATO).

Lacus’ two big strength are her resilience in the face of conflict and her talent for leadership. In her life, she has seen a lot of death. In all three conflicts she’s been party in, the civilian loss of life was immense. On a more personal scale, her rebellion directly lead to the death of her own father. Yet Lacus keeps moving forward, never losing sight of what is good for the whole. Despite having already lost her father to the weight of her choices, Lacus time and time demonstrates a willingness to risk the people she loves the most if it’s necessary for the protection of the world at large. This makes her a level-headed leader who will always value the success of the mission the highest. This will not change in LILITH – whether it’s the people of her own world or those of another, Lacus believes in protecting the innocent and will see it through.

Though Lacus has not been a combatant for most of her life, she’s recently taken steps to change this. Fed up with only ever sending out her loved ones to risk themselves while she watches on from afar, Lacus launched a small support craft onto the battle field and shared the cockpit with her life partner Kira afterwards. In LILITH, she’ll be willing to further expand on this new willingness to step into the fray herself. While she might never become a heavy hitter on the front lines, she’ll be invested in going out and providing back-up for her teammates.

She’ll be especially useful now that she has awakened to her Accord powers and is capable of psychically analyzing battlefield situations within moments – knowledge she will use to coordinate small teams more efficiently, thus putting her leadership ability back into use on the small scale.

Further, Lacus will be very interested in helping LILITH with public relations and anything of that sort, should the need ever arise. She is an experienced public speaker and diplomat after all!

PERSONALITY TRAITS:
Positive: intuitive, gentle, persuasive, deliberate
Negative: hesitant to act, withdrawn, dishonest, can be socially overwhelming

PERSONALITY REFERENCE: Wiki!

POWERS & SKILLS:
Coordinator powers: Lacus is a genetically modified human being. The most notable modifications are
a) immunity to most common diseases
b) enhanced ability to gain skills – while a Coordinator will still need to put in effort, they essentially have a buff on aquiring any kind of ability. They memorize faster and better. They build muscle faster and better. They are just faster better. But no Coordinator skill ever surpasses human capacity – it’s just a free pass to get to maximal human capacity a lot easier.

SEED Factor: Despite being titular to Gundam SEED, the SEED factor is pretty ill-defined. It is essentially a state of heightened concentration that is called forth by an emotional response in combat (or simply at will, for a more experienced user). In this state, the user’s skills level up – most characters are shown using the SEED mode for incredible feats of piloting via heightened spatial awareness and reaction times.
Lacus herself posesses the SEED factor, but has not really used it in a combat situation in canon. In the end, there is no reason to believe hers would work any differently if she were piloting or driving a craft.

Further, when Lacus activates her SEED mode, she can instantly get the lay of the battlefield and know where things are positioned relative to each other. She’s basically a radar system in human form. (This ability is related to the Accord powers mentioned below and was only revealed in the recent movie.)

Lockpicking: Her buddy Haro comes with the ability to open electronic locks. Handy! The limits of this ability are never stated, so I’ll always ask mod permission before attempting to pick any potentially relevant lock. Haro is otherwise a cute little pet robot who can hop around and say simple phrases!

Driving: Lacus has a motorcycle license. Yay.

NERFED POWERS:
Accord powers: In addition to being a Coordinator, Lacus has recenty been revealed to be a special kind of Coordinator. This gives her some extra abilities:

a) Mind hacking: TOTALLY NERFED, goodbye.
b) Telepathy: Theoretically possible over large distances, but I am nerfing this so Lacus can only transmit her thoughts to people who are within a 20m radius of her. She is not yet used to this ability as it has been latent for most of her life, so it’s going to take her some trial and error. Additionally to thought messages, Lacus can also transfer more abstract knowledge (such as a pathway she is familiar with, etc). She can not read minds.

PERSONAL ITEM: Her signature golden hair accessory! (I have said in some TDM threads that she doesn’t have it right after arrival, because I had not made up my mind on this yet… Sorry about that!)
ALTERNATE IDENTITY: Meer Campbell, a lounge singer!
CODE NAME CHOICE: Eternal
